Structural balance. Lasting relief.

What Is Manual Osteopathy?

Manual osteopathy assesses and treats the body as a whole. With a solid base in science and anatomy, osteopathic practitioners use assessment techniques such as skilled palpation, neurological and orthopedic assessments to determine where the body holds restrictions and what parts of the body must be treated to restore balance and wellbeing. Osteopathy aims to find the WHY behind the problem so that total wellbeing and balance can be restored.

Manual osteopathy integrates contemporary medical knowledge with traditional osteopathic philosophy, creating a holistic, patient-centred approach to healthcare. Osteopathic manual practitioners are uniquely trained to 'listen' to the body through their hands, tuning into the body's innate wisdom — allowing for a gentler treatment that focuses on the whole person rather than just the symptomatic areas.

Integrated Within Osteopathic Care

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy is not a standalone bookable service. It falls within the scope of osteopathic practice and is integrated into osteopathic sessions when clinically appropriate. To receive Cranial Sacral Therapy, please book a Manual Osteopathy session.

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique that works with the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a light touch, the practitioner listens to subtle rhythmic movements in the body to detect and release restrictions that may be affecting the nervous system and overall health.

Because it works directly with the nervous system, CST is woven into almost every osteopathic session at Akasha Health when the body calls for it — supporting deeper regulation, tissue release, and integration of the treatment.

What Cranial Sacral Therapy Can Help With

Headaches and migraines
Nervous system dysregulation and stress
Concussion and post-traumatic recovery
Chronic neck and back pain
TMJ and jaw tension
Anxiety, fatigue, and burnout
Sleep disturbances
Infant and pediatric concerns
